Ubuntu won’t boot

I tried to do a partial upgrade but it failed. Actually it didn’t even get to start since it keeps saying something is already using something (can’t remember since the screen cap is in my desktop and can’t access it cause it can’t boot ). I restarted computer and now it would not boot. I attached an image of what I’m seeing. Recovery mode doesn’t boot either.

I am guessing that the machine was automatically installing updates and you interrupted it. What version are you running?
