Desktop layout-view

Just installed 16.04 to an Intel I7 computer and upgraded to 18.04
I still have the 16.04 desktop layout, it is nothing like when my old
computer got upgraded to 18.04.1
How can I fix this please ?

Better to start with a clean install of 18.04 and go from there. Upgrading usually causes more problems that what it is worth.

Have fitted my 2 old hard drives to new computer box and running OK, will post new question on how to replace one of those hard drives (160 gb /home) to a larger hard drive for /home.
Looks like the problem was with the 2 tb hd from the new (used) computer, thank you for your reply Autodave
