Why aren't default lubuntu downloads torrents?

I found the torrents buried.

The download page should have links to the torrents.

Many non-technical people aren't familiar with bittorrent and wouldn't have a BT client installed already. Many networks block torrents completely, but I don't actually know the reasoning.

It does have torrent links
That's what the magnet icons (those u icon things) are:
This is Lubuntu's Official home page:
https://lubuntu.me/downloads/

I'm assuming you went to the non-official lubuntu.net page:
https://lubuntu.net/downloads/

Perhaps all it needs is some indication that the horseshoe icon is a magnet link as I admit I did not realise that until I found it by accident, a long time ago now, but when I knw nothing about magnet links.

Yep, I went to the non-official page.
Why does that page exist?

Yep, I went to the non-official page.
Why does that page exist? Do you come here on ubuntuforums.org to download installers and torrent links etc or do you go to the ubuntu.com download page for an ubuntu installer/torrent? (rhetorical question ;-))

At a very quick glance over both of the linked sites it appears that one site, the official one, caters for developers and code contributors and the unofficial site is for helping end users, much like ubuntu.com and here on ubuntuforums.org.

Just guessing here, but maybe it's the old story of supply and demand. There's more demand for access to an easy download of a recognizable ISO file that doesn't require a lot of playing around. I've been downloading Linux ISOs for years. I did try a torrent once, but it wasn't a great experience. Clicking on an ISO link and getting a download - after some time - is simpler to most people. Some people will even buy a CD/DVD of a distro from OSDisc.com or other source. So it's a choice, and the most popular choice gets the most visibility.
