I installed the latest Ubuntu 18.10 desktop 64 & when I got to the desktop the resolution was very low. This usually happenes until I install the Nvidia driver and then I get a decent resolution. This time though I dont get as far as a graphical display and end in shell with the following text as in the atttached picture:
Sorry its a bit out of focus but I think you get the gist of what it says.

Motherboard is ASRock 4 core dual VSTA
2gb Ram
NVida Geforce 9800GT graphice card.

Last distro I was using with the Nvida driver on this desktop was Linux Mint 17.10. Every version of Ubuntu or Mint kept getting stuck in a loop when trying to satrt a graphical display and I would have to give up. This latest Ubuntu 18.10 doesn't get stuck in a loop starting x but it doesnt get any further than where it is in the picture. It does'nt even quite get to where it tries to start x as far as I can make out and gets stuck on the line "A start job is running for hold untsucess finishesup (29s / no limit). After this I can only ht the reset button and power off.
can anyone help me get this desktop working again with Ubuntu and the Nvidia driver.
