I have a lot of vintage computing equipment ( I'm a bit of a pack rat when it comes to computers ) and have a number of old Pentium 4 towers I've been using with Lubuntu. Anyway , I installed Lubuntu on an old Pentium 4 HT box recently and everything worked fine except the screen resolution was automatically set too high so that it was hard to read text on the screen , etc. I tried to reset the resolution , but the resolution settings remained the same. So I set the
resolution to something lower , like 800 x 600 , and saved the settings and rebooted to see if the settings would change , but the monitor could not display anything once the OS rebooted. My question is this: what configuration file holds the monitor resolution settings ( I figure I can just take a live install disc or similar "boot disc" to modify the monitor configuration file so it will display after rebooting ). Thanks for any information.

lxrandr is the easiest way I know to fix resolution issues on any Linux GUI.
