Hello I am new to Linux and I would like to know how to change the background of open folders. I would like to have the same image appear in the background of every folder window I open on my Ubuntu 18.04 system.

Cheers.

The only currently available file manager that I know of that has such an option is the Caja File manager. It comes with Ubuntu MATE. It has a "backgrounds" option for file manager window.

Oh ok I am using Ubuntu with Gnome. I may try a custom theme and see what I can do.

You would to install Ubuntu Mate or The U-Mate Desktop Environment if you really want that feature. Mate is very different than the current Gnome desktop.

There are a few themes which include file manager backgrounds.
