Hello guys,
As a last resort, I'm turning to ubuntuforums for help. I've been trying to solve my problem for a whole week now, to no success.
I've installed lubuntu on a Dell Inspiron mini 1012 and it worked well. I did reboot and it worked well too. Now, there was a wifi driver missing and I installed that. Rebooted again but this time, it stayed on the lubuntu splash screen and froze there.
My problem is similar to user bent82, he started the thread (https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2332063) two years ago.
His problem was solved but when I follow the same procedure, I get a message saying that this file is read-only and that it can not be masked.
I don't know if I'm doing it right but I reboot the computer and go into recovery mode. When I see the recovery menu on top, it also says filesystem state: read-only in parenthesis. How can I change that? How do I give the mask command the same way bent82 did and work around this bug that is affecting this particular computer?
