there is a package i want to install but i have reason to believe there will be file collisions. i want to backup any such files into a tarball first. but i don't know what files to backup. i do want the install to override any such file collisions and i don't know if it will do that or not. if not, then clearly i will need to remove them in advance. all of this is to fix my backup system and i have no access to the backups, yet, to compare anything. a way to get the list of files for a package not yet installed would be a good start. a command like "apt list-files <package-name>" for packages not installed would have been useful.
