After upgrading from 16.04 to 18.04 the Desktop misses features!

Description:
Now Ubuntu 18.04 is installed. The Desktop has missing feature, click left only options: Settings- Change background. (no new folder option). Also no icon appears on the Desktop.

I tried TWEAKS and Dconf Editor (show desktop icons).

Yes "ll ~/Desktop" I can see all my desktop files.

Thank in advance for your help! G.

Have you changed from Unity to Gnome?
I am and have used gnome-panel/fallback or the old gnome2, now based on gnome3, but still old style panels.
If an upgrade you should have two options for gui, unless you install even more.
At log in screen is small gear icon. If you clean on that, it gives choices of gui.
