I have this problem where after logging in my status bar icons don't display. If I do ALT+F2 to then restart the shell, they appear (see screenshots below).

Any ideas on how to fix this?

The green one is. But this also occurs if I lock the machine.

It is all icons. If I launch a new app that has a status bar icon, I have to refresh the shell for it appear.

Are you using the default shell theme or any top bar extensions ?

I was using "Arc Darker" but I reverted to original to test, still occurs. I've screenshotted my extensions:

What are you using to display the drop-down extensions menu in the top panel ? I don't see this on my 18.04 installation.

The image in post #7 is a gnome shell extension named "Extensions". I have it on my system.

Try disabling extensions indicator and see if the rest of the panel indicators start normally.
