Screen Brightness Control 18.04

Could someone explain what 'Automatic Brightness' control does. I have this switched to 'on' and the brightness seems to vary after several 'logins' ?
Using Ubuntu 18.04

A little in fo on your system might help us. As far as I know, the laptop or tablet uses the built-in camera to detect ambient light levels and thus controls the brightness of your screen. The brighter the ambient light, the brighter the screen.

'Thanks Autodave - I think I have solved it - put 'aotomatic' to 'off'. The Ubuntu 16.04 version did not need any settings. Thanks
