upgrade lost trash

I just upgraded from xubuntu 16.04 to 18.04. Now I get a red circle where the trash is in panel. And if I click it I get
Failed to connect to trash, operation not supported.Also trash folder was gone from ~.local/share/.Trash so I recreated folder but no luck and if I send something to trash it doesn't go to that folder it just disappears

Try looking in ~/.local/share/Trash/files (you need the slash after the ~).

sorry, I forgot to mention I created a /files folder in trash, no luck on that either
