Ubuntu server lts 18.04 - username and password

Hi guys

I've installed this twice now and both time the the credentials I set during install do not work once I get to the login prompt. Is the a built in accoutn I can use? waht am I missing?

In what way do they not work? Is an error message displayed?

It's a standard Linux type login. Input username, press enter, input password, press enter. The password is of course case sensitive and isn't displayed while being input.

Sounds to me like keyboard layout issues (you make the password with one when installing and when you boot in the keyboard layout is different so the password you type becomes different).
