I have this issue with Ubuntu (and I think that I tried Lubuntu too) :
What happens is that the pc freezes after installing or it wont start up at all... Sometimes the liveUsb works sometimes it doesn't.
The strange thing is that I can install Linux Mint 18.3 and use it...

This picture shows my error

Your nVidia will need nomodeset for installer & first boot or until you install the proprietary nVidia driver from Ubuntu repository. Do not install directly from nVidia.

Are you only installing Ubuntu in UEFI boot mode?
How you boot install media is then how it installs.
Shows install with screen shots. Both BIOS purple accessibility screen & UEFI black grub menu screen
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI

At grub menu you can use e for edit, scroll to linux line and replace quiet splash with nomodeset.
How to set NOMODESET and other kernel boot options in grub2 - both BIOS liveCD & grub first boot ( also UEFI with grub)
How to add boot parameters, grub menu after install (also grub when UEFI)

(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132)Have you updated UEFI? Required for all PCs.

Is/Are drives in RAID mode. If RAID 0, breaking RAID can cause major issues. Be sure to have good backups.
Drives need to be in AHCI mode, not RAID, IDE, nor some Intel SRT thing. But if still using Windows make sure you have added the AHCI driver first.
