Hi guys,
I have a Dell Latitude D650 which I m trying to make use of as it is in good condition.
XP is pointless now so thought would try a version of Ubuntu.

Now, I tried the 14.0.5 Server version. Full disk install. All goes great, then get prompt to remove disk and reboot.
Then after doing that it says it's loading and nothing, blank screen.

Same with server 16.04.4.

I am at loss as to why and am hopefully going to find out here.
Should I try 18? Is there an i386 version?

TIA
Kevin

Just wondering if you are sure that you want or need a server version.

A basic install of Ubuntu Server has no gui.

If you are wanting an operating system to replace XP then I'd suggest you try something in the latest 18.04 series like Xubuntu, Lubuntu etc. These are a bit lighter on resources than the Gnome/KDE editions

If this computer is old enough that it came with xp installed, I seriously doubt a standard Ubuntu installation will run on it. You could try lighter versions as suggested. Posting some info on the age of the computer and the hardware would help someone make a suggestion.

Thanks for the tip Travis.
Now replying to you via aforementioned Dell D620 running Lubuntu.
Loving it so far.

I've removed the irrelevant edubuntu prefix as nothing posted seems to be related to that very specific flavor of Ubuntu.
