Hi,
I have recently installed Ubuntu 18.04 on a machine were I had installed 16.04.
The first time I installed choosing option Installation Type:"Erase 16.04 and install 18.04". But afterwards I was unable to boot into the newly installed OS:
Then I tried many different installing options:
- Installation Type:"Erase disk and install Ubuntu"
- Installation Type:"Something else"
- Installation Type:"Something else" with EFI config (see https://askubuntu.com/questions/789998/16-04-new-installation-gives-grub-efi-amd64-signed-failed-installation-target)
But all resulted in the same problem, that I am unable to boot into the OS.
Then I tried to reinstall GRUB (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair).
But even that didn't help.
