I have a inspiron 530 dell which i upgraded the ram to 4g and bought a ssd hard drive. It was working ok with sound on LTS16.04. I upgraded to 18.04 with the SSD and was impressed how quick it was using a complete fresh install. The only problem was no sound. The card is there and the controls are there, I can see that the sound is coming from the card using some of the commands but am not able to understand if this is a configuration issue or a bug?

Could you help me to determine what the issue is? I found the following that i carried out.

in the settings the sound card is set as "dummy Output"

is this correct?

Hello,

I have the same problem: no sound because an upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04. The sound card is the same as yours.
Did you find a solution?

Thank you.

Hi sorry I still am not able to see the sound card so believe it is still active. the way i found a way around is to play music eg your phone into the sound card. that way when it boots up it is aware the sound card is using sound.
hope it helps. at some time i itend to use the pc for some thing else and will place a simpler operating system. i love ubuntu so shame that it is not fixed yet..
maybe if you log a bug, more that submit hopefully they will fix it.
