hi,

i have 2 computers. my laptop uses a nvidia 460 card while my desktop an AMD radeon rx 560.

both have been upgraded to 18.04 and both are screwed.

while laptop is looping on login screen under lightdm it does not allow anymore to use sddm...which is by the way my favorite DM.

on my desktop it does not matter if i use lightdm or sddm...no login screen.

in both case i tried to remove current drivers ..no change
i tried to install oibaf drivers...so optimized driver....no change.

any idea what to do as i can not just wipe partition and install from scratch as i have data on disk.

thx

Obviously best to copy out data & fresh install.
If that's unacceptable & you get desperate I'll give you 2 methods, one not that aggressive (but may not work), one extremely aggressive that will work & maintain your current home folder.

Edit: after checking out a Kubuntu live session what I'd do isn't easily done. You'd need a root file browser & a decent install partitioner, none of which kubuntu provides on it's live session.
