Screen rotates

I've completed an install of ubuntu 17 onto an HP Pavilion Model 15-aw094nr

There is one issue to resolve. The screen rotates by itself, then if I tip the laptop the screen goes dark then rotates back for a moment then flips again by itself. Just by positioning the laptop in many physical directions I can rotate the screen to any position but it won't stay in normal upright for long.

in the drop down menu click on the icon next to the settings icon to lock rotation.
you might want to reboot first to get the screen the right way.
