Is there a command to find how much disk space an installed package uses? For example, the MATE desktop environment on i386 Ubuntu for 16.04. I'm trying to learn ways to make ubuntu as light as possible for my older comps. I chose to go ahead and install MATE during the installation, but now I'm thinking about removing it, depending on how much storage space it consumes.

https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=599424 shows multiple ways to get package sizes.

If you want lite, don't install a full DE. Start with a mini-Ubuntu install and add just those things you need.

There are different sorts of lite installs
* RAM/CPU lite
* Storage lite
It is usually more convenient to use a little more storage at install time and worry about being CPU/RAM efficient later. But sometimes storage size matters more than anything else too. Just depends on the priorities.

Thanks, I totally forgot about Synaptic Package Manager, mainly because I use the cli so much. Thanks for the info!
