Hello,

I have a computer running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Gnome fallback Metacity, and the desktop icons can be moved wherever I want (just what I want). I am trying to set up another computer to get the same user interface, but my desktop icons are aligning to a grid. Could someone tell me how to disable the grid snap feature? Thanks so much, John

Left, right and middle are the only choices these days.

UbuntuMate gives you full control and their WM is built on Metacity.

It is simple after all! If you right-click at a free area of the desktop, you can check to keep the icons aligned or not. Next time you will get a more complicated question. Best wishes, John
