Hello,

Is it possible to boot Ubuntu to pure text mode? I am trying to install 16.04 LTS on my Qnap TS-269L, but the CederView driver is no longer supported and the display continues to be blank.

Thank you,
Kenneth

I don't know how you do that with the Desktop iso but for the Server iso, text mode installation is the norm. Perhaps you could try that.

There is also the minimal ISO:

Using systemd? You could try http://www.linuxandubuntu.com/home/how-to-boot-into-linux-command-line
Caveat emptor: I haven't tried this myself, but it seems the simplest way to test, plus it makes no permanent changes to anything.

Edit: I just tried this on my systemd Xubuntu 17.10 desktop, it worked perfectly.
