Just installed Ubuntu 17.10.1 on Hyper-V VM, got networking and OpenSSH running.
Then started
sudo apt-get install gnome-shell
so far not error messages recorded
The rebooted the machine, but still alphanum prompt - no graphics.

How to get gnome-shell on Ubuntu 17.10 srv running - if it is at all possible...

Hello and Welcome

Ubuntu 17.10 uses the gnome-shell by default so there is no need to install it.
