Hello, I have tried to Install Ubuntu 16 alongside Windows 10 on a HP G6 laptop.

The installation completed and I was asked to restart the laptop.

When it restarted there was a black screen with text that ended with this message
"A start job is running for Ubuntu Live CD For Installer"

I followed the instructions from this guide
https://www.google.ie/amp/s/www.tecmint.com/install-ubuntu-16-04-alongside-with-windows-10-or-8-in-dual-boot/amp/

Step 13 in this guide says that a grub menu should appear on restart but that didn't happen.

Can anyone help. I have seen numerous posts on this topic throughout the web since ubuntu 16 release in 2016 but have yet to find an answer.

Just asking. Did you remove the installation media before rebooting?

I got a message saying the installation completed and the installation disc ejected. I waited for the grub menu to appear but windows booted instead.

In this thread https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2385361 the Poster Oldfred mentions that Hp interferes with the grub menu

OK, I am not into UEFI and dual boot what seems to be the problem here.

What happens if you hit the shift key on boot?
