I am currently looking at a Dell 5520 laptop. I need a dual boot with windows and ubuntu 16.04. Since the laptop can be shipped with ubuntu 16 out of the box, does it make more sense to get it like that and install windows beside that. Or is it easier to get it with windows and then install ubuntu?

Probably better to get it with Windows.
Ubuntu is free to download and install.

Do not know if Dell uses different configuration of hardware.
And Dell used to have its own drivers Sputnik which would eventually be incorporated into Linux.

Well, you pay for windows either way. If i get it with ubuntu, they will take the cost of the windows license out of the laptop. So I m more interested in how long it will take me to get the second operating system running properly. Thank you for the links to the Dell support guides.
