I installed several themes on my MATE desktop and i've been getting issues with my theme previews for Controls, Window Borders and Icons. I heard that things get overwritten when installing the same themes on the /home/.themes and the /usr/share/themes folder. I got rid of my themes on the .themes folder in the home folder. Still didn't work. I want to fix my issue and I still want my theme and icon options to show up on the GTK+ Greeter. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Screenshots below.

Mate uses gtk3. Perhaps your themes are not compatible. Will they install at all?

I also use .themes (and .icons) and have not have any overwrite problems. I have had the same theme show up twice when using those folders.

You may want to also ask at the mate forums.
