Synaptic Package Manager

I am running Ubuntu 17.10. My Synaptic Package Manager has not come up since I was back at 17.4. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times from the Software Library.

Is there a problem with it?

I input the requested: xhost +si:localuser:root command. It gave me an error of:
Major Opcode or Failed Request: 109 (x_Changehosts)
Value of Failed Request: 0xe
Serial Number of Failed Request: 7
Current Serial Number in Output Stream: 9
