Ubuntu 17.10 very slow to show desktop I need help

Hi
I have upgraded from 16.10 to 17.10 since that when I start ubuntu it takes abi haveout 4-5 minutes before showing the login to log into the machine.
I was hoping an update will help the issue has been with me for while now ... also googled but can't find a solution.

Check the system logs. Slow performance that carries over from an OS wipe is almost always failing hardware.

Please mention if you believe that the problem relates to any of your earlier threads. For example, is this the system on which you installed Hadoop?

Was it a fresh install or an online upgrade?
