Hey guys,
I have a Thinkpad E540 and I need to update the Bios. I don't have Windows installed so I have to flash the bios in Linux. Lenovo offers either an .exe file or an .iso image for the Bios. I tried to do this using the following tutorial (https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2380411&p=13721659#post13721659) but it did not work. Since this is an old computer with a DVD drive I was just thinking to use that and not run in circles with USB formats, el torito and whatnot. However I can't find any specific resource online if there are any special things one must do with the .iso. Do I just simply burn it on a DVD as I would any other ISO and just boot from it? On the page, it says this image is meant for Windows OS-s, nowhere is Linux mentioned. Any step by step tutorial for this? Don't really want to turn my laptop into a pile of metal by messing up with the firmware.
