Hi,

I spend some time on input configuration on Ubuntu 16.04. It does not work as expected yet. I use China mainland pinyin method. BTW, the pinyin in Windows 10 works well. I don't know the Ubuntu pinyin is so different.

The 'Pinyin' input method is shown in the below link (Which is a Chinese blue character icon):

https://www.pinyinjoe.com/linux/ubuntu-10-chinese-input-pinyin-chewing.htm

If I input one Chinese character in pinyin 'jiang', it will show as two characters: 'ji ang'. The end result is as the following:

己ang

I just want to use the basic pinyin method. Can you tell me what is wrong here?

Thanks,

When I use pinyin (not often, admittedly) I use sunpinyin with the iBus input engine.

There is also a "pinyin" input for iBus, but it's been a while since I did any pinyin input, so I don't recall what the difference is.

iBus is the default input engine for 16.04, so unless you've done something unusual, you probably already have it installed.
