Hello!

Trying to upgrade through versions that have passed their End Of Life is risky, often results in compounded problems, and is more likely to end in a significant negative emotional event than in success.

At this point, you might be better off with a fresh installation of 16.04 while preserving your /home directory so you don't lose your important files.

If you don't know how to do that, just let us know.
