Interesting article.
It puts Debian at nr 2. I wonder if that is DEBIAN BASED distro's or Debian itself?

I think it refers to Debian itself since Debian is a really good distro for Server, while most Debian family concentrates on Desktop.

I agree, plus if I understand the article correctly it just lists the distros that are most-used, but don't rate them themselves, so that would indeed mean it solely points to debian itself.

Furthermore I don't really mind wheter or not Ubuntu is recognised as a server distribution. As I think it focuses on the desktop as defkewl said, and does a VERY good job at that!

Yes and it's even better since Ubuntu only concentrates on making a powerful Desktop OS.
