hey guys!

i've made a separate partition with "mini.iso" 16.04 which will be dedicated just for one program "mame"(arcade emulator).
it's made with just the basic packages and runs well (around 170mb ram).
the problem is that the package available in the repositories is ofcourse the newest version or close so it runs poorly on my old system.

i would like to know if it's possible to install an older version of the package, found probably from an older ubuntu version's repositories
and what should i take care of if i do that. needless to say that for this partition i wouldn't care for any updates.

of course i could just reinstall an old distribution but that would be my second option.

The oldest you could go right now would be 14.04 I believe. That might do it for you. That would be a long term release (LTS) which is still current for updating it to keep it secure. Of course, if you are not having it connected to the web, you should be good forever.
