network status indicator not showing network connectivity after upgrading to 17.10

After upgrading distro from Ubuntu gnome 14.04 to 17.10, network status indicator in top bar not showing network connectivity (wired and wireless), there is no issue in connectivity just not showing network status, please see the image attached , in top bar right corner there is always a question mark over network indicator. how can I fix it?
