Does anyone know how to turn off the transparency/translucency of the top bar and launcher sidebar in the new Gnome Shell version of Ubuntu? I find it makes the text and icons harder to read and would prefer a solid colour rather than the desktop image showing through. In fact, I'd like to turn off _all_ translucent and transparent effects if possible - they may be "pretty" but they reduce readability - a case of form before function, I'm afraid.

Thanks,

Andy

Have you tried Gnome Tweak Tool ?
