View Full Version : [mythbuntu] Installing Upgrade (to 16.04) in WUBI-like Environment

I'm currently running 14.04 on a linux-only desktop mainly used as mythtv-backend/frontend and file server. It has a Hauppauge 2255 capture card installed for broadcast TV capture. I had to install a Hauppauge-provided kernel to get the card to work. I want to upgrade to 16.04 which, I've been led to believe, has native support for my card.

I tried upgrading and ran into all kinds of problems. Mythtv simply didn't work which was the main reason I reverted back to 14.04. I retained the upgraded system and would like to reinstall it in a test environment that I can select on boot. I don't want to create another partition on the disk and would prefer to install it in a loop-mounted formatted file (like WUBI). I know how to create, format and mount such a file, but not how to make it a boot option.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
