I have used Xubuntu for some time and now I would like to return to Ubuntu. Today I installed version 17.10 of Xubuntu. How do I change to the same version of Ubuntu? I tried some on line ideas but nothing changed. My package manager seems not to work due to an earlier problem.

Thanks

We'll need to fix your package manager problem first. Can you post the full output of sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade?

If it were me I would back up all important stuff , down load fresh ubuntu .iso and do a completely fresh install.
JMHO.
Cheers.

Why do you want to change, if I may ask? (I use Xubuntu and also upgraded to 17.10.)

I was waiting for Ubuntu to dump Unity. I also have a faster laptop that can handle Ubuntu just fine.
I think that a clean install is the best idea.
Thanks
