Running 14.04 with gnome for mythtv application. After running for some time (weeks) when I exit mythtv to use the desktop I can pull down the applications menu but when I click on an entry nothing happens - have tried various applications and none start. This has happened several times. The places menu works as expected. A reboot fixes it but I would like to know what the real fix is or how to figure out this issue. Depending on what is scheduled on the PC I may not be able to reboot.
I could schedule to periodically reboot during inactive periods and I should do that for other reasons but that's not addressing the real issue.
