I am running Ubuntu 16.04 on an HP laptop in dual-boot mode. Ubuntu is my default OS. When I turned on the machine this morning, the dashboard/menu bar failed to appear. I have configured it as a sidebar on the left of the screen, which auto-hides when not in use and slides out when the cursor touches the edge of the screen.
As a result, I am unable to use the computer.
Yesterday, I had noticed that display settings were inaccessible - there was a "no information received from the screen" message.
I would greatly appreciate help with this. Thanks.
