Forum,

During a routine update of 16.04.2 I was asked to create a secure boot password. Did the install but tells me I need to enable secure boot now. I go into the bios menu and no longer can change the secure boot which is now set to enabled. It was turned off before the update. Can't run boot repair since the secure boot is enabled. I have password for bios but still can't change the secure boot.

When did this change (secure boot enable) come into play? How do I resolve this issue?

I'm running a Acer Aspire E5-575 laptop. Have the newest Ubuntu 16.04.2.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Bests,
phil s

Did you setup the secure boot password?

Some machine this can be disabled by removing the ( jumper ) from the mother board, in my case I had a issue lIke this on one of my machines were I could not change anything in my BIOS, it was on a Dell 755 Optiplex, I had to remove the lithium battery and was able to make the changes I needed

Also tell us if this is a dual boot with windows.
Also set UEFI to Legacy to disable that. (If you can)
