View Full Version : [SOLVED] Running Cinnamon 3.2 on (32-bit) Ubuntu 17.04 (Solved !)

I've just installed the Cinnamon desktop environment on Ubuntu 17.04 (which itself was installed on an ancient Dell Inspiron 1525 machine), and a search on Synaptic confirms that it has been successfully installed. Despite that, the desktop environment I encounter when I start the computer is the Unity default, which I should prefer not to have to use. Any suggestions as to how I can convince Cinnamon to run on this machine ?... :(

You did select the Cinnamon environment from the login screen, yes ?

Hand to forehead - smack ! Thanks, howefield - I beg to be allowed to excuse myself for missing the obvious by appealing to the fact that it's been some years since I've used Ubuntu....
Thanks again ! :p
