Desktop 1 and 2

Please,I just installed Lubuntu 16.04 LTS.

At the bottom left I see "desktop 1 and 2".

Can someone explain to me how can be used?

Can I,for example,open a browser on "desktop 1" and terminal on "desktop 2"?

Hello and welcome to the forums, Yes you're correct, you can open a number of different task and switch between each one if needed. You can also set the number of Work spaces you need at any given time

I am also using Lubuntu 16.04 and regularly have different programs on each desktop, each with a different wallpaper image. The easiest way to switch between them is to have the mouse pointer on the wallpaper and roll the mouse scroll wheel. I only use the taskbar icons if either desktop has a full-screen program on it.
