installed gnome over unity and gnome is not working properly

Since hearing that Unity is going away I decided to install gnome 3.20 DE and the top menus are not working properly but it does seem to function. Have you had an issuelike this? im am using ubuntu 16.04.2

Can you better describe what's not working properly . Gnome does not have a global menu like unity.
