There is that company in the launcher. I read a few posts, people asserting a lot, but I do not understand completely what exactly is happening in the guts of the OS. In case someone having business with them that icon could be clicked, that is clear. If someone want to contact A. that could be done via browser, too. No need for a special software, I assume.
Again: What does all that mean, especially for users not having business with A. and what is happening under the hood?

You can include search results from amazon and the web in dash from the Security & Privacy application under the search tab. The option is disabled by default. Using it matter of user preference.

Short version: Financial incentives for Canonical (parent of Ubuntu). Which funds the Ubuntu OS development.
And personally, what I see in other places (Windows10 ads, Cable TV pay + ads and on and on), this is something I can happily live with as there is no price you pay for Ubuntu.
