Attempting to install ubuntu to an SD Card using Rufus, and boot from that.

Successfully used Rufus to write the ISO, but no amount of monkeying around in the BIOS will allow me to add the SD card to the boot order?

Does anyone have experience with cheap ASUS laptops and Ubuntu?

This is my first time trying to install linux since UEFI & Secure Boot came on the scene.

Update:

I seem to have added my SD card reader (or maybe my network card; realtek pxe?) to the boot list, but every time I try to boot I get an error that says something along the lines of: "Media failure, check cable."

Use a USB drive, since most computers won't boot from SD cards and only USBs and CDs/DVDs. And anyways Ubuntu doesn't support SD cards. :(
