I've decided to make the transition from Unity to Gnome Shell early at this stage of uprading from Ubuntu 16.10 to 17.04 (64-bit).

I did a fresh install using Beta 2 Release of Ubuntu Gnome 17.04 (64-bit), and then upgraded my system to the final release seamlessly, I guess.

However I hen started having some problems.

Usually my touchpad or mouse becomes almost ineffective:
I cannot use any of the menus, buttons, etc. although sometimes some buttons might work -- mostly the window close button.
Rarely the whole system freezes, and I have to make a cold restart.

I have a feeling that Ubuntu Gnome 17.04 is pushing my CPU towards overloading and overheating.

I don't think there's a hardware issue as I saw the same problem when I cloned my system (with Clonezilla) from Dell Latitude E4310 to Lenovo IdeaPad S400.

Maybe I should try and reinstall the system using the Final Release of Ubuntu Gnome 17.04?

Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated...

I'm also using Ubuntu Gnome, 17.04, and my touchpad freezes sometimes too. I have no idea what causes it, it seems random.

Confirmed on my notebook. The desktop, however, works fine.
