I've installed Ubuntu 16.04.2 with the default desktop on an ASUS Vivobook N552VW which has a built-in 4k monitor. I use a 1080p monitor for my second display via HDMI cable.
Under Settings -> Displays each monitor gets its own setting for "Scale for menu and title bars". The 4k monitor uses 2.88 and the 1080p uses 1.0. When I try to set "scale all windows contents to match" for each monitor the setting seems to control both monitors. If I set it to look right on the 1080p monitor it is too small on the 4k monitor. Setting it to look right on the 4k monitor makes it far too large on the 1080p monitor. Also, all windows lose the three buttons on the top left (close, min, max) when moved to the 1080p monitor. This doesn't happen when the buttons are on the top right (chrome main window).
I've used Windows 10 with a 4k and 1080p monitor and sliding the window to one monitor or the other gets it to scale appropriately for that monitor. Win10 only seems to have a problem with popups (e.g. download) being too large for the 1080p monitor.
How do get different scaling for the different monitors on Ubuntu?
Thanks.
