I have recently upgraded from 12.10 to 16.10. Same machine and a clean new installation. I was always very impressed by the bootup speed in 12.10 but 16.10 takes about 4 times as long. It is still faster than most windows installations but i was wondering if the program size is that much larger or have i done something in the new setup?

It is quite possibly the change from upstart to systemd that has caused the longer boot time; my system takes longer to boot to 16.04 than it did to 14.04, but is still pretty fast when compared with the time it used to take to get to a usable system when I used Windows.
