Hello,
I am new to this forum and to Ubuntu. I am trying to fix the boot section of Windows 10 because it is not working.
I read that testdisk can help, however the instructions say to go to the software center which seems to be absent in my ubuntu version, in order to get testdisk.
I have tried everything that could be found online in trying to install this software center, but I have not been successful.
I have used all possible terminal commands but ... no luck.
I really need help here. So, please let me know.
I am using the portable Ubuntu usb version 16.04.2LTS amd64
Thank you very much.

sudo apt update; sudo apt install testdisk

If there are any errors please copy/paste the output here in full.

Welcome. As a side note, you can also download and create a disk or USB of SystemRescueCD (http://www.system-rescue-cd.org/SystemRescueCd_Homepage) which has testdisk, photorec, gparted and a heap of other extremely handy recovery and maintenance tools (http://www.system-rescue-cd.org/System-tools). I never leave home without it! :)
