Hi, after installing the new 4.8.0-36 kernel up date the system will not wake from suspend.
Mouse movements and touch pad do not wake it up.
It's a black screen that I can see the pointer and move it for awhile and then the screen will just freeze.
A hard boot gives me nothing but a blank dark screen.
I have reinstalled and turned any screen suspend options off.
It was working fine until the kernel upgrade.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Bob.

Try tapping the shift key on startup this will bring up the Grub menu and choose a earlier kernel

Darn, wish I would have known that. <g>
I just clean installed 16.04.2 And now I have no earlier one to try. It does the same thing in the 16.04.02 version,
I have another machine with 16.04.1 that is asking me to up grade to the new kernel.
If this happens with that machine and I choose the earlier one how do I make it always boot to that one?
Is there a fix for the new kernel in 16.04.02 and no suspend?
Thanks in advance.

If you choose a earlier kernel and boot from that I believe the next time you boot your machine it will boot from the last kernel used, unless I'm wrong and someone has better knowledge of how it works
